London nach Berlin 1806 und 1809

  • Hello, Enclosed I put 2 letters from London to Berlin.

The first letter, dated 1 April 1806, has a British rate of 3 shilling (written in the under left and upper right corner). This is the British rate for a double letter according the British tariff of March 1805 for letters from London to Northern Europe.
I wonder if yhe rate to be paid in Berlin is correct ? I think it is 9 1/2 Gute Groschen (written in the middle of the front side) and above the Dr I think I can read a 3 (= 3 skilling for the traject between Husum and Hamburg). Is this correct?

The second letter is dated 6 December 1809 and has the British rate of 1 shilling 6 pence for a single letter, also according the Britis tariff of March 1805. Again I think to see a 9 1/2 Gute Groschen in the middle of the front side and a 3 skilling for the traject between Husum and Hamburg.

Can somebody confirm the rates to be paid in Berlin please?

    Thanks for your help.
    Willy

  • Hello Willy

I see 9 1/2 Gute Groschen on both letters too.

    Liebe Grüsse vom Ralph
